Introduction to 18650 Battery Capacity
The voltage of 18650 nickel hydrogen battery is 1.2V. Individual capacities range from 1000mAh to 2900mAh, with capacities reaching around 3100mAh. This is a nickel hydrogen battery, of course, the capacity of nickel hydrogen batteries may increase in parallel. 18650 nickel hydrogen batteries initially had a market, but due to the existence of 18650 lithium batteries, the disadvantages of nickel hydrogen batteries in utilization were too obvious, so they were basically replaced.
The nickel hydrogen battery technology is mature and has good safety, which is an important choice for confusing energy vehicle batteries, but it is difficult to meet the needs of high electrification level. Nickel hydrogen currently dominates as existing hybrid energy vehicles only have 1 to 2 kWh of battery energy and cannot be driven purely by electricity, or have a battery life of less than 3 kilometers. In the long run, NIMH cannot be used for plug-in hybrid energy and electric vehicles.
This is important because:
(1) The specific energy and energy density of nickel metal hydride cannot meet the requirements of PHEV and EV;
(2) The price of Ni (OH) is high, and the cost of high-energy batteries is high;
(3) The nickel hydrogen battery technology is basically mature, but the space for improving battery performance and reducing costs is very limited. Nickel metal hydride batteries have similar memory consequences as nickel cadmium batteries, but much worse.
So there is no need to discharge every time it is charged (as improper operation can damage the battery), only charging once every three months to fully discharge and alleviate the consequences of memory. At present, the capacity of nickel hydrogen batteries is as high as 2900mAh (referred to as mAh in China). Batteries that are not used for a long time may leak mildly corrosive and harmful liquids (harmful to human health or damaging devices that use batteries), while lithium batteries may burn or cause damage when they are not suitable for use. Nickel hydrogen batteries are safe batteries. The voltage of nickel hydride battery is 1.2V, and the voltage of lithium battery is 3.7V.
Lithium batteries have good discharge capabilities. Nickel hydrogen batteries have low environmental pollution, mainly due to some acidic and alkaline exhaust gases, and most importantly, harmful HCI. Environmental protection measures are in place and should not be a problem.
